Planned Giving is a way to create your legacy of service to others through support of AIDS Athens in your estate plan. A last bequest through your Will is a powerful statement to friends and loved ones about those things that matter the most to you. Beyond the financial benefit to the organization, this sign of commitment is of tremendous assistance in supporting our efforts well into the future.
Planned Giving also has many benefits to you as the donor. Often people would like to make a substantial gift to a nonprofit; but, they have concerns that they or their loved ones may need access to those funds before their passing. A gift to AIDS Athens in your Will allows you to retain control of your funds in the event that unforseen circumstances arise. Planned Giving to cerfitied nonprofits like AIDS Athens is also an excellent way to realize a substantial tax benefit for your estate.

The following language is an example of wording that may be used to name AIDS Athens as a beneficiary of your last will and testament. Ordinarily, gifts through a will are made either by giving a specific amount or by donating a percentage of the residue of your estate.
a. GENERAL TESTAMENTARY GIFT: SPECIFIC MONETARY AMOUNT: I hereby give and bequeath _________________ Dollars ($_____________) to AIDS Athens, Inc. in Athens, GA, or its successors-in-interest, to be used for general purposes.
b. GENERAL TESTAMENTARY GIFT: PERCENTAGE OF RESIDUE OF ESTATE: I hereby give and bequeath _________ percent (____%) of the rest and residue of my estate to AIDS Athens, Inc., in Athens, GA or its successors-in-interst to be used for general purposes.
For those of you who have trusts in your estate plan for a partner, child or pet, the following language is an example of wording that may be used to make AIDS Athens a contingent beneficiary of the trust estate.
a. GENERAL CONTINGENT BENEFICIARY GIFT: [Insert contingency (e.g., Upon the death of my ___________)], the Trustee shall distribute _________________ Dollars ($________________) to AIDS Athens, Inc. in Athens, GA, or its successors-in-interest, free and clear of trust, to be used for general purposes.
