Special Events

Special Events are an opportunity to give and make a public statement of support. In addition to participating in one of our annual events, you can make AIDS Athens the beneficiary of your event or social activity.

Annual Events

Each year AIDS Athens hosts its signature event, Festival for Life. To participate in this event, individuals host dinner parties and their guests make a donation to AIDS Athens in an amount equal to an evening out with friends. After the dinner parties, everyone gathers for a dessert reception to sample desserts, wine and coffee donated by local businesses. Over 25 dinner parties are hosted each year attended by over 200 guests. Festival for Life 2011 will be held on Saturday, February 26th.

AIDS Athens has also been fortunate to receive the support of local restaurants through the annual Night Out for Life event. For this event, participating restaurants agree to donate 10% of the proceeds of that night's receipts to AIDS Athens. This annual event is held each Fall in October. Night Out for Life 2010 will be held on Wednesday, October 20th.

Hosting or attending a dinner party for Festival for Life or dining out at a participating restaurant for Night Out for Life is an excellent way to take an active roll in supporting AIDS Athens. If you would like to participate in one of these events, please contact the Executive Director.

Your Event or Social Activity

No matter the size of your event or activity, the benefit to AIDS Athens is substantial. We encourage our supporters to hold their own events. Or if your social club, group, church, sorority or fraternity has an annual event or one-time activity, consider making AIDS Athens the beneficiary. For example, groups have donated proceeds of ticket sales and/or cover charges. Other supporters have organized a charity sporting event, bake sale, bowl-a-thon, concert, raffle and even a spinning class to raise funds. The donations also do not have to be monetary; groups have also had canned food drives for our food pantry. Remember, great events start out small! If you have a brilliant idea you may be surprised to see how quickly it grows into an annual tradition.
