Client Services
A holistic approach is utilized by AIDS Athens case managers who emotionally support, educate, and serve as advocates on behalf of HIV-positive individuals. Case managers assess client needs and assist clients in obtaining medical care, community resources, housing assistance, financial assistance, food, and other services.
Medical Services
Federal monies named in memory of Ryan White are used by AIDS Athens and the Northeast Georgia Health District to assist HIV-positive individuals, including those living without health insurance.
Funds are allocated to eligible clients for direct care, outpatient medical care, prescription drugs, and lab work. Individuals can access these services through a referral to the local Ryan White Clinic.
Support Groups
AIDS Athens sponsors support groups and monthly socials for persons living with HIV/AIDS.
Clients also benefit from volunteer-based programs that provide practical and emotional support to those affected by HIV/AIDS.
Additionally, trained AIDS Athens volunteers and clients serve as peer counselors to individual clients to provide friendship, emotional support, and encouragement.
Education & Prevention
AIDS Athens works to raise awareness of and knowledge about HIV and AIDS in our community through public awareness campaigns, community events, and local groups.
Staff, volunteers, and a speakers bureau conduct
educational programs throughout the community with local businesses, civic groups, educational groups, and faith based organizations.
Through innovative new avenues AIDS Athens is able to reach further into the communities we serve and help prevent the spread of this virus through education and awareness.
